Cook-off!

Come and be the judge at our 1st Cook-Off where fresh, local ingredients are prepared by fresh, local chefs. Whose dish will be the winner?

While at the Market for the Zucchini Races, come and be a judge at our 1st ever Cook Off! We will have dueling chefs trying to out-cook each other, with you as the judge. Come and sample some amazing food prepared from talented local chefs and cast your vote. Voting closes at 1pm with the winner announced shortly afterwards. More details to follow.
We are located on Bryn Maur Road in the heart of downtown Langford on a quaint cobblestoned street inspired by those in the Netherlands known as "woonerfs". It was designed more for pedestrian traffic than cars - the perfect Market location!
The goal of the Market is to support and promote a sustainable and vibrant local agricultural industry and artisan community by providing an outlet for the sale of locally-grown and locally-processed agricultural products and artisan crafts.  The Market also provides the opportunity for local musicians and entertainers to perform and local non-profit groups to tell their community story.
  • All produce is local and grown for taste, not ability to survive shipping. Most produce is picked in the morning, just prior to the market – you can’t get any fresher!
  • Do you want to know who grows or makes your food? Come to the market and talk to the farmers – learn how they farm, what they grow, how to eat with the seasons, and new varieties to try.
  • Everything is home-grown or home-made from the West Shore or our neighboring communities.
  • Unique hand-made crafts made by local artisans for that special wedding, birthday, shower or Christmas gift (or perhaps something for yourself?)

Come and be a part of our West Shore community!

We are planning more events, more vendors, more local produce, more local crafts, more local entertainment and more local food for 2010!

§  Market Recipes:  ever wonder what to do with all the great produce you find at the Market? We will be collecting tasty and easy recipes from farmers and customers to share with you. Do you have your own favorite recipe you'd like to share? Send it in to info@goldstreamstationmarket.ca and we will add it to our Market Recipes!

Plan on coming early and spend some time browsing the great selection of produce, crafts, and food. You can also grab some coffee or snacks from one of the two coffee shops (Vanilla Cream Cafe and Mirage Coffee) with patio seating right next door and enjoy the music!

The market is held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. opening for the season on June 5 and running until October 16 in 2010. Want to know who's entertaining or special events at the market? Click on CALENDAR.

My Chosen Knit Wit
Are you interested in being a vendor at the market? Click on the VENDOR INFO on the sidebar, and you'll find information on being a vendor – for growers, crafters and food processors – including the vendor application form and our rules & regulations.  The daily stall fee is $15. Please call ahead to reserve your space for market day.

Got a band looking for a country gig? We’re also interested in hearing from choirs, dancers and other performance artists. And people like to watch people (and other critters) do things – throwing pots, weaving, for example – so if you have an idea for an activity you'd like to see at the market, then click on ENTERTAINER INFO on the sidebar menu.

We also offer free space for community groups to come to the market. If you are interested in telling the community about who are and what you do, visit the COMMUNITY GROUPS page.

Interested in volunteering or want to learn more about who's running the market, then come along and find out ABOUT US.

§  Market Bags: Hugely successful in 2009, the Market Bag program will continue in 2010. Market Bags are free, re-usable tote bags donated by shoppers for shoppers who forget their bags and are an alternative to using plastic bags.  Just grab one when you need one, and return it the next week for another Market customer! We are always seeking donations of additional tote bags: please collect any recyclable tote or cloth bags (or even tank tops which are converted into “Tank Totes”) and bring them to the Information Booth during the market season.
